To help families budget ahead of the big day, the Icelandic supermarket headquartered in Deeside has launched its Christmas bonus card to help families budget ahead of the holiday season.

According to statistics from Google Trends, the month when we start thinking about saving for Christmas is coming earlier and earlier, with the percentage of people searching for “Christmas savings” rising from 7% in September 2019 to 16% in September 2020 and 25% in September. 2021

Iceland and The Food Warehouse shoppers who load £100 onto their bonus card by August 31, which they can do online, in-store or via the app, will receive £15 added to their Christmas savings.

The offer is available to all existing bonus card holders, with new customers also able to register and participate.

The bonus can be spent in-store at Iceland or The Food Warehouse, as well as online and via the app until Friday, December 23.

This is even on top of the usual Icelandic bonus card offer where customers get an extra £1 for every £20 spent.

Shoppers who save £100 before August 31 could get an extra £20 for free.

Similar Christmas savings offers have been announced by other retailers including Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury’s. However, Iceland says its scheme is the only one to offer up to £15 in bonuses for a saving of just £100.

Asda’s scheme requires savings of £280 to receive £15, with Sainsbury’s scheme requiring £300 in savings for a £15 bonus.

Richard Walker, Managing Director of Iceland, said: “We realize shoppers may be in different states of mind at the moment – some are starting to think about Christmas while others are just trying to transition from a week to week.”

“With our savings on Christmas Bonus Cards and our always low prices, amazing offers and discounts across the board, we want to be there for everyone.”

Walker added: Richard Walker added: “We hope to help all shoppers feel a little more in control as December approaches – and that the bonuses along the way will be a welcome boost, both for the savings pots of our buyers and their enthusiasm. for Christmas.”
