Heartland Bank Wins Canstar Savings Bank of the Year for Fifth Consecutive Year

Heartland Bank won the prestigious Canstar Bank of the Year – Savings Award for the fifth consecutive year. The 2022 award recognizes the financial institution that offers the best combination of products, taking into account price positioning, functionality, savings tools and product flexibility rated in the Savings Accounts Star Profiles of Canstar, as well as the support of savers through a competitive term deposit offer. Additionally, Heartland’s Direct Call Account and 32-Day Notice Saver have both been rated as 5-Star Exceptional Value Products.

Heartland’s retail managing director, Andrew Ford, said the prices reflect Heartland Bank’s simple and effective savings products. The introduction of Notice Saver products, which offer higher interest rates than traditional on-call savings accounts without having to lock in funds for an extended period, has been well received by customers.

“We are thrilled. This is outstanding recognition of the value customers receive from our market-leading savings products. Winning five years in a row demonstrates our consistency in delivering excellent products, with competitive returns, backed by fantastic service.

“With the higher cost of living, it can seem difficult to save. However, we are seeing more and more Kiwis shopping around to put their hard-earned savings to work.

Jose George, managing director of Canstar NZ, said Heartland’s dominance in savings was clear. “Heartland’s focus on providing the best deals to customers means that it consistently offers higher rates than its competitors. Its savings rates on regular and flexible accounts, as well as its term deposits, are among the most competitive on the market.

“We know from our consumer research that more than 70% of Kiwis still rely on savings accounts for their cash flow in case of bad weather, with a third of us also keeping money in deposits. We’ve had several years of miserable returns, but savings accounts are starting to offer better deals, which will help Kiwis deal with other financial pressures.

“Heartland remains the clear favorite when it comes to savings and we congratulate the team on their continued success.”

Heartland offers a range of savings accounts designed to help Kiwis do more with their money. For the seventh consecutive year, Heartland’s Direct Calling Account has received Canstar’s 5-Star Rating for Exceptional Value Savings Account. Its 32-day Notice Saver account also earned a 5-star rating and Heartland’s latest offering, the 90-day Notice Saver account – which has only been in the market for a few months, has achieved a rising star rating with all the ingredients for a 5 -star account in the future.
