Machias Savings Bank Launches Statewide $100L ‘YES!’ Grant to Support Maine Nonprofits

Machias Savings Bank opened the first ballot for its “YES!” Grant program, designed to support statewide nonprofits and charities that help move Maine forward. During the year 2022, the “YES! Grant will provide $100,000 to organizations that refuse to take ‘no’ for an answer to help others succeed.

Each quarter, five grants of $5,000 will be awarded to non-profit organizations in a designated area. From now until March 4, Maineans can vote for their favorite nonprofits in Washington and Aroostook counties. While the first round of voting is open to organizations from the northern and southeastern regions of the state, the second quarter will feature organizations from the coastal region of Maine, the third quarter will focus on the southern region and the fourth quarter will be open to those in central Maine.

“At Machias Savings Bank, we’re always striving to move Maine forward, and we know the best way to do that is to do it together,” said Melissa Denbow, vice president, community experience manager at Machias Savings Bank. “Supporting these organizations across the state allows us to directly support our fellow Mainers and all the great work they do in our communities.”

Entrants can find nominated organizations online at and vote for their favorite nonprofits once per 24-hour period. The organizations shortlisted on the voting page each have a demonstrated history of improving the lives of community members in their area, but entrants are also encouraged to write in any unlisted organization they would like to vote for.

Once the voting period is over, the top-scoring organizations will go to the Machias Savings Bank Donations Committee, which will make the final decision on which organizations will receive funding. More information about the grant and voting can be found online at
