Postal Savings Bank (POSB) account holders can use online banking services provided by India Post, which is part of the Department of Posts (DOP). Swiss Post Internet Banking can help you transfer funds between your own postal savings account and that of a third party, you can also deposit funds into your PPF and SSY accounts, as well as many other services.

Prerequisites to avail India Post Online Banking

According to the India Post website, the following requirements must be met before availing internet banking services:

  • Active single or joint “B” savings account valid at CBS Sub Post Office or Main Post Office.
  • Accounts held at the branch post office are not eligible for internet banking.
  • Provide necessary KYC documents, if not already submitted
  • Valid unique mobile number
  • E-mail address
  • PAN number

How to Register and Activate India Post Online Banking
Step 1: Go to the nearest post office and complete the form

(You will receive an SMS alert on your registered phone number within 48 hours)

Step 2: Once you have received the SMS, go to the DOP Internet Banking Portal and click on the “New User Activation” hyperlink on the home page.

Step 3: Enter Client ID and Account ID (Client ID is the CIF ID shown on the first page of the savings account book. Your savings account number is the account ID ).

Step 4: Fill in the required information and set your Internet Banking login and transaction passwords.

Note that login and transaction passwords cannot be the same

Step 5: Log in now and set up your security questions and answers, as well as your password.

A “passphrase”, which is an additional security function, may be requested. It verifies that you are accessing the correct Internet Banking DOP URL. It must be the same as the one you chose during user activation.

These procedures are necessary for your online banking user ID to be successfully activated.

Online operations

Funds can be transferred from your POSB account to other POSB accounts belonging to you or a third party. Here are some of the transactions that can be done using internet banking.

  • PPF Deposit and PPF Withdrawal
  • RD Deposit, RD Half Withdrawal Refund
  • SSA deposit.
  • RD and TD accounts can be opened through internet banking
  • RD and TD accounts can be closed or pre-closed according to existing POSB standards.
  • The opposition to the payment of the check can be registered
  • Online PPF Withdrawal
  • Beneficiary can be added

How to activate mobile banking

Complete the mobile banking application and submit. According to the FAQs on the India Post website, “After registering for DoP Mobile Banking, download the India Post mobile banking app from Google Play Store and use the Enable Mobile Banking option and follow the steps preset after 24 hours of registration.”

The CIF ID is printed on the first page of your booklet, the default username. You can change your mobile banking channel login credentials in the Update Channel Login Credential option under the My Profile section in Internet Banking.

Step 1: Download the Mobile Banking app from the Google Play store

Step 2: Click on the “Enable mobile banking” tab

Step 3: Enter security credentials and enter OTP

Step 4: Once your activation has been authenticated, you will be prompted to enter your four-digit MPIN

Step 5: Click Submit

You are now ready to log in to the DOP mobile banking application.
