Skowhegan Savings Bank opens new building in Farmington

FARMINGTON, Maine (WABI) – After a 10-year run at a historic building, Skowhegan Savings Bank in Farmington is building its own.

They innovate in Farmington, just down the road from the old near Hannaford supermarket.

“This building was rented. It’s a historic building, a grand building, but it’s really no longer suited to our needs,” said David Cyr, president and CEO of Skowhegan Savings Bank.

The new branch is just under 2,400 square feet and will offer all the amenities and more.

“We will have better access, we will have better parking. Our lobby at the moment is really tight, you’ll feel out in the open,” Cyr said.

The Farmington City Manager says this investment will not only help financially, but will continue to provide access to services for the population.

“It’s important to have a diverse financial structure in the city and they’ve been a great community partner,” Farmington City Manager Christian Waller said.

He is delighted to continue the partnership with the mutual bank owned by the customers. David CYR says it’s one of the things that sets them apart.

“If you look at the goodwill we’re doing in our communities everywhere, that’s the second big thing is you’ll see, we’re part of your communities. we are your neighbors, your friends, we keep everything local and I think it’s worth it,” Cyr said.

They tell us that they expect the bank to open early next year.
