Thomaston Savings Bank donated 92 padded stockings to Soldiers’ Angels in support of the Holiday Stockings for Heroes initiative. The bank has gathered donations from all departments and branches to fill the stockings with various holiday comfort items, including hats, gloves, games and snacks that will be delivered to the military and veterans.
Lauren Mondak, a customer service associate at Thomaston Savings Bank, said: “I have been working with Soldiers’ Angels for a little over a year now as part of a letter writing team. I used to participate in high school troop care package campaigns, so when the opportunity arose to organize one with the Bank, I was happy to help. Everyone has had a difficult two years, including the troops, and sometimes we all need to remember that the community, especially Thomaston, is always here to support each other. It is a great organization to make a donation in memory of those who have served and to honor those who continue to serve our country.
Soldiers’ Angels is a non-profit organization committed to providing assistance, comfort and resources to service members, veterans and their families. They coordinate an initiative called Holiday Stockings for Heroes, which aims to provide holiday stockings filled with various holiday and comfort items that are then shipped to service members deployed to combat zones or in support of combat operations, to veteran patients in VA hospitals; and to National Guard and Reserve units across the country.
