Troy Savings Bank Music Hall presents Billy Bragg

The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall is delighted to welcome English singer-songwriter Billy Bragg on October 11th.

Thirty-seven years ago, the Saturday boy from Essex became Britain’s most important political singer-songwriter. He released his first album, life is a riot with spy vs spy, stoned on a punk rock electric guitar. He was number 30. Billy Bragg had arrived. He had “passed from obscurity to semi-obscurity.”

The three and a half decades that followed were marked by many milestones and milestones, political and personal, topping the singles chart, having a street named after him, being mentioned in Dylan’s memoir, being asked to give a seminar on accountability at the Bank of England, and meet the Queen.

“Very beautiful” (according to a Facebook fan), nothing can stop him now. For every protest song (‘There is power in a union‘), there is a declaration of love (‘I will be your shield’). Orator, published author, entertainer, agitator, negotiator, pamphleteer, the legendary “Barking’s big-nosed bard” is many things.

The confinement could not hold him back. Instead, he looked inside as well as outside, and joined the two together, stronger. A new set, The Million Things That Never Happened emerged, flashing in the light.

“Among the million things that never happened were my planned dates in the US for the past three years, so I’m really looking forward to reconnecting with my audience and trying to figure out where we stand. are after all this time. It will be great to be back on the road playing songs in North America again. –Billy
