HONOLULU — Kaua’i United Way is one of many recipients of donations from American Savings Bank through its 2022 Kahiau Donation Campaign.
The campaign raised $362,043 and 93% of ASB teammates participated in the annual workplace giving program.
A statement from the SBA did not indicate the amount granted to KUW.
“Our Kahiau partners have continued to work hard throughout the pandemic to provide much-needed services to our community, and we are honored to be able to support them,” said Ann Teranishi, President and CEO of ASB.
“I’m proud of our teammates’ continued commitment to giving wholeheartedly and making a real impact on our community.”
The theme for this year’s Kahiau campaign was “Here Comes the Sun,” which generated $212,043 in donations from teammates.
ASB contributed an additional $150,000.
As the state continues to recover from the economic effects of the pandemic, ASB teammates remain committed to making dreams possible for customers and the community by bringing sunshine through their donations.
The word “Kahiau” in Hawaiian means “to give from the heart without expecting anything in return”. Kahiau funds have also been donated to Child & Family Service, Kapi’olani Health Foundation, Kupu, Partners in Development Foundation and United Way chapters on O’ahu, Moloka’i, Maui and Hawai’. i Island.

ASB supports initiatives that promote educational excellence and financial literacy, strengthen families, and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship through donations, sponsorships, grants, scholarships, internships, and volunteerism. ASB supports its Kahiau community partners throughout the year through the bank’s Seeds of Service volunteer program and financial literacy workshops.

Last year, ASB donated more than $1.5 million to nearly 80 nonprofits and donated more than 13,000 Seeds of Service volunteer hours to nearly 160 nonprofits.
In total, ASB has donated nearly 100,000 volunteer hours and millions of dollars to nonprofits and community organizations in Hawai’i, including more than $2.6 million raised through the Kahiau Giving campaign. since 2011.
